Strawberry Banana Bread

Strawberry Banana Bread

A soft and moist strawberry banana bread recipe made with greek yogurt and olive oil. It is a wholesome twist on a classic treat that is packed with fresh strawberries and sweet banana flavor.

Banana bread is one of those recipes that is great any time of day. Breakfast, snack or dessert. It tastes great with fruit added, like in our blueberry chia seed banana bread. Or with chocolate chips added, like in our greek yogurt banana bread. And we really love our maple glazed banana bread.

This from-scratch strawberry banana bread is special because it is bursting with fresh strawberry flavor, all while being made with healthier ingredients like olive oil and greek yogurt. Add some almond butter on top of a warm slice and you are good to go.

What makes this recipe great

  • Moist texture. The greek yogurt and olive oil add moisture to the banana bread, which results in a fluffy crumb. Greek yogurt also boosts protein!
  • Strawberry flavor. The fresh strawberries and bananas used in this recipe adds wonderful strawberry and banana flavor. It’s great for strawberry lovers!
  • It is a twist on classic banana bread. It’s made with greek yogurt and olive oil instead of butter or sour cream. It also is full of fresh strawberries. Definitely a twist on traditional banana breads.

Recipe ingredients

Ingredients needed to make strawberry banana bread.
  • Greek yogurt– unflavored low fat or regular fat greek yogurt works well here.
  • Olive oil– use a good quality olive oil.
  • Eggs– these help bind the bread together.
  • Bananas– make sure you use ripe bananas. This gives your banana bread better banana flavor and more natural sweetness.
  • Sugar- We like using organic cane sugar here. It balances the acidity of the strawberries.
  • Vanilla extract– you can use one with or without alcohol here.
  • Flour– all purpose flour works best here.
  • Baking soda-this helps the banana bread to rise.
  • Strawberries– fresh strawberries are used here and are chopped to spread the strawberry flavor all over the bread.

Expert tips

  • Use very ripe bananas! The more ripe, the sweeter the taste.
  • Make sure to add flour to your chopped strawberries. This prevents the fruit from sinking or from the bread having soggy spots.
  • If you put a few slices of strawberries on top of your banana bread, make sure they are sliced very thin, otherwise they may be soggy underneath.
  • If the banana bread looks too brown on top, cover in aluminum foil and continue baking.
  • How to store: wrap in foil or plastic wrap. Store at room temperature for 3-4 days or in the fridge for a week.
