Have you ever made your own almond milk before? If you haven’t, now is the time to start!
Not only is making your own almond milk simple to do, but the taste of fresh from-scratch almond milk is just rich. Plus you can make the most satisfying and festive, yet lighter flavors of almond milk. Like this From-scratch Chocolate Mint Almond Milk.
It’s has the most refreshing creamy chocolate flavor with a hint of mint, which is just right for this time of year!

We actually wish that we started making our own almond milk sooner because it has the most wonderful fresh nuttiness flavor to it. It is a taste that we have found from an almond milk that we have bought in stores.
And if the taste wasn’t a good enough excuse to try making your own almond milk, the ingredient list inside of from-scratch almond milk is definitely a good reason to try making your own.
Ingredients needed to make this From-scratch Chocolate Mint Almond Milk:
- almonds
- water
- vanilla
- dates
- cocoa powder
- mint leaves
In some of the healthier almond milks in stores, there is “Calcium Carbonate, Sunflower Lecithin, Potassium Citrate, Natural Flavors, Locust Bean Gum, and Gellan Gum.” inside.
And that is for the healthier options. You don’t even want to know what’s in the less healthier almond milks.
Though we feel like we need to give a shoutout to our all time favorite brand of almond milk, and the healthiest one on the market, Elmhurst Almond milk… their unsweetened almond milk only has water and almonds inside! Which is great!
However, if you’ve seen their almond milk in stores, you know that it is expensive.

Plus, as is the case with many food items, it always tastes better when it is from-scratch. 🙂 Good thing it is truly simple to make.
We say this as we chug a glass of this From-scratch Chocolate Mint Almond Milk mixed with some coffee. We've been making iced coffees with it and it is delightful!
How to make this From-scratch Chocolate Mint Almond Milk:
You start by soaking almonds for 8-12 hours. This can easily done by soaking almonds in a bowl and leaving them to soak overnight.
Then, you put the soaked almonds into a blender and add water, vanilla, dates, cocoa powder and mint leaves.
(Note: this recipe is easily customizable. If you want more or less sweetness add more or less dates. If you want more or less mint flavor, add more or less mint leaves)
You blend everything together until the almonds are fully ground up.

Next, you put everything into a nut milk bag. We personally love Ellie’s Best Nut Milk Bags, because of how durable and simple to use they are.
They literally look like bags with no holes in them, but they strain almond milk perfectly…they are also simple to clean, which is a major plus.
Side note: we have paired up with Ellie’s Best to give you guys 10% off your orders with them if you use the code “” at checkout. 🙂
Once the almond milk mixture is in the nut milk bag, twist and squeeze the nut milk bag until all the almond milk is out.
Then you are done!!

You’ll have fresh From-scratch Chocolate Mint Almond Milk that you can store in your fridge and do whatever you like with.
We like drinking it by itself, or with adding it to some coffee, or even using it as the base to make hot chocolate.
The possibilities are endless!
We love chocolate mint flavor during the holidays and drinking this From-scratch Chocolate Mint Almond Milk makes us feel so festive and happy.
Enjoy!
